Sole F85 Treadmill: A Review

At 2K dollars, the Sole F85 is probably the best foldable treadmill in the business. It combines quality and performance, not to mention its sleek look and nifty console.

Sole has always scored high on the warranty front and F85 is no exception. The motor, deck and frame are secured for a lifetime; electronics, belt, rollers and wear parts for 5 years; labor for 2 years. This is by far the highest in the industry.

Weighing 280 lb, the F85 provides as much sturdiness as the non-folding ones. It supports user weight of 350 lb, more than what you need for a solid and stable feel.

The F85 is powered by a 3.5 HP motor built for high torques at low RPM. It is the best you can get at this price range and for home use you don't need more than that. The speeds you can set are 0.5 - 12 mph.

The incline can go up to 15% maximum, with rack and pinion gear design. But on an average you can expect around 12%.

Sole F85 is fitted with high quality extra large 2.75" rollers that reduce wear and tear on the belt, rollers, bearings and motor. The large rollers make for a smooth and quiet motion by reducing the number of revolutions.

The deck is well cushioned by Whisper and protects your knees and ankles by absorbing shocks. The belt is heavy-duty and anti-static made up of 4 layers - 2 rubber layers over a PVC layer and a nylon backing.

The console is elegant and smartly laid out. Six window tricolor LED readouts, progression display, speakers, inputs for music players, cooling fans make for a fine experience. The controls for speed and incline are on the side rails, which lets you change them without leaning over and interrupting your stride.

The variety of built-in programs in the F85 is not huge but fair enough. There are 6 auto programs, 2 heart rate control programs and 2 customizable programs, which will keep you on track without getting bored.

You can use the wireless chest strap or the hand pulse grip to measure heart rate.

All in all, the Sole F85 is a smart choice if you want folding, stability and elegance within a reasonable budget.
