Proform 680 Trainer- A Good Entry-Level Buy

The Proform 680 Trainer is a budget treadmill and needs to be viewed as a good entry level buy. Coming from Proform it is indeed a good value for money. Although not heavy enough to endure jogging, it is a good buy if you are only going to walk on it. Moreover it comes equipped with an iPod music port and speakers.

The Proform 680 Trainer has an attractive bright orange ClearView backlit console that shows all the basic parameters you need. The speakers are built into the console, which gives you the advantage of turning the sound right at you. The sound is good to say the least.

The variety of built-in workouts gives you no chance of boredom or lack of motivation. There are 10 workouts by certified trainers to help you walk and walk to your heart's content and achieve your fitness goals.

The QuickSpeed controls are a smart way of changing speed and incline with one touch of your finger. You won't need to break your stride when you want to do that. It is a power incline that is built in, which for this budget range is quite a utility. You can simulate uphill walking to challenge yourself and add lots of variety to your workouts.

The cushioning on the deck is good for a budget treadmill. They've used TreadSoft Max cushioning system which takes a fair amount of shock away from your joints and knees. Though not as high as the higher-priced models, it is much better than walking on asphalt or concrete. The 20" x 55" treadbelt is more than enough for tall walkers.

The specifications state that Proform 680 Trainer can handle a maximum user weight of 300 pounds, but it looks a bit far-fetched. Buy this treadmill if you are less than 220 pounds.

The motor used is a 2.8 HP commercial grade Mach Z which is not exactly strong, but strong motors are hard to get at this price range. Since the warranty is good (20 years) and the name is Proform, you could trust it to perform well and last long. A one-year warranty on parts and labor is good compared to others.

All in all it looks a great entry level treadmill and you cannot ask for more in as little as 599 dollars. The shipping is free too.
