ProForm 6.0 GSX Treadmill: A Review

This is a basic model from ProForm and pretty much has all the essential features and comes at a low price. It features a handy design that allows you to keep it vertical when not in use and save a lot of room space. The dimensions - 36.5" x 70" x 57.8" - let you stow it away conveniently.

The console is the first thing that catches the eye. Apart from the standard set of statistics that every model has, it also has a Carb Counter that shows you the amount of carbs you have burnt while running. The Clearview Backlit display has a real wide viewing angle - near 180 degrees. A 5 x 7 LED matrix displays speed, time, distance, incline, pace, calories burned, and pulse. A two-speed CoolAire fan keeps you nice and comfortable during rigorous workouts. One touch speed and incline buttons help you adjust the speed and incline at one go without breaking your stride.

Out of the 6 built-in workout programs, 2 are cardio programs that monitor your heart rate through the powerful EKG hand grip sensors.

The treadbelt is small at 19" x 50" but this treadmill is essentially for walking, so it's okay. If you are tall or want to jog, think of other models. The treadbelt is self lubricating and extra-durable. It features AirTek Impact Absorption that does a fair job of lessening impact on the knees and ankles. It's about 15% softer than on the road.

The treadmill is powered by a 2.75 THP MachZ motor which is self-cooling and quiet. It is a patented motor equivalent to a 1.75 HP Continuous Duty, more than sufficient for walkers. It gives speeds up to 10 mph and a power incline takes it up 10%. The treadmill can handle a maximum user weight of 300 pounds, so for average users it feels nice and stable.

The warranties however are not the best you can get even at this price range. It is 10 years on the motor and 90 days on wear parts and labor. Other entry level models give a better deal.

ProForm 6.0 GSX is an economy treadmill. If you can afford to invest some extra money we suggest you look for higher models.
