Image Advanced 1400 Treadmill: A Review

If you are looking for a decent treadmill with a small price tag, you need not look beyond the Image Advanced 1400. If you are getting iFIT compatibility in a treadmill costing 800 dollars, the deal is hard to beat.

Image Advanced 1400 comes with 10 built-in workout programs designed by experts, so you can't get bored with the workouts. Should you need more, the iFIT compatibility helps you download them from the Internet.

The running zone is long enough for tall users; the treadbelt measures 19" x 55". Maybe a bit narrow but certainly as long as the high priced ones. It doesn't make noises so you can enjoy the music and exercise. The Precision Response™ Impact Absorption technology absorbs the shocks and keeps your ankles and knees protected. It is 32% safer for your joints than jogging on asphalt.

The ClearView backlit display shows the necessary parameters like speed, time, distance, incline, calories and pulse on a decent looking console. It has an extra wide viewing angle to make it easy for you to read.

The EKG heart rate monitor reads your heart beats through the convenient dual grip provided.

The Image Advanced 1400 has MyTracks™ Step Counter which tracks your steps and helps in your fitness program interactively.

It features a 2.25 CHP commercial Z drive motor system with a fan to cool the internal components. Operation is smooth with almost no noise. The motor may not be as powerful as those in the high end models but is capable of giving speeds up to 10 mph. A 0 - 10% power incline helps you intensify your workout without additional load on the motor.

The two-speed CoolAir fan keeps you cool and comfortable during the grueling workouts.

The warranty, however, is not very impressive. The motor is covered for 12 years and not 30 as the high end models. Wear parts and labor are free for 90 days, compared to a year in the others. But since Image Advanced 1400 is an entry level treadmill and packs in several features at a low price, you could probably take it in your stride. Go for it if you are not yet ready for the mid-end or high-end treadmills.
